Code of Conduct

Hacky Hour is a community-based and community-buildling event intended for networking and collaboration in the University of Glasgow research community.

We value the participation of each member of the research community and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees.

To make clear what is expected, all staff, attendees, helpers, or any other persons at a Hacky Hour Glasgow event are required to conform to the following Code of Conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event.

Our Standards

Hacky Hour is dedicated to providing a positive conference experience for everyone, regardless of age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, or religion (or lack thereof), education, or socio-economic status.

Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in behavior that violates this code of conduct, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or arranging for the removal of the offender from the premises.

Scope

All Hacky Hour attendees are subject to the Code of Conduct. This includes staff, students, attendees, helpers, researchers, and anyone else who participates in a Hacky Hour event.

This Code of Conduct was forked from the policy from PyCon Code of Conduct, which itself was adapted from a sample policy in the Geek Feminism wiki, created by the Ada Initiative and other volunteers. The former is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported License and the latter is under a Creative Commons Zero license.
